Follow the Butterflies
Follow the Butterflies gathers computer paintings made between 2017–2025 with PathPaint, a browser-based computer painting program and ongoing software artwork by artist Andrew Rosinski. PathPaint explores “software as an aqueous conduit,” where digital brushstrokes flow from a conflux of found media, authored media, and programmatic processes. The application functions as both instrument and collaborator, shaping the image alongside the human hand.
By showing how human intention and machine logic co-produce form over time, and delineates how a minimal and experimental user interface can invite risk, responsiveness, quirks, iteration, and spontaneity.
